Region: South Australia
The grapes are selected from multiple sites in South Australia, with majority coming from vineyards in the Riverland district along the Murray River. This area has two main soil types; the river valley soils consisting of sandy loams over clay subsoils, and on higher ground, wind-blown sands over lime and clay layers. The climate here sees long sunny days and noticeably cooler nights. A small percentage of the fruit came from Currency Creek, a region on the Fleurieu Peninsula, about 80 kilometres south of Adelaide. The region is not far from the sea, so night time temperatures are not extreme and the daytime temperatures are moderated by cool breezes in the afternoons.
Tasting Notes: This deep crimson-coloured Shiraz is youthful and vibrant, with a lovely dark fruit and spiced plum character on the nose. The oak supports the fruit, which is bright and lively on the palate while offering earthy notes of nutmeg and black pepper. The tannins are ripe and velvety, giving the wine texture.
