The fig of Cosentino enjoys an extremely high reputation in Calabria and this unpasteurised fig ball is a typical, artisanal product from the area. It is made in September out of slightly over-ripe figs that are gently dried and oven-baked. Spices such as aniseed and cinnamon are then added before the product is wrapped in fig leaves and Raphia. Another short spell in the oven completes the process.
