What we collect when you order, why we hold it, and what you can ask us to do with it.
This is our own policy, not a template, and it describes this site as it actually behaves — including the parts where the honest answer is “nothing” or “not yet”. We are a food shop, not a data business. If we start doing something new with your information, this page changes before it starts, not after. Last updated 23 September 2026.
Artisan Deli Market Limited runs this site and the shop behind it. Below is what we collect when you visit or order, why we hold it, and what you can tell us to do with it.
What we collect when you order
What it takes to get a box to a door: your name, your email address, your phone number, the billing address on the card, and the address the parcel is going to. We hold it because we can’t perform the order without it.
If you’re sending a gift, that includes the recipient’s name and address — there is no way to deliver to someone without them — and the message you wrote, because someone here writes it on the card by hand.
Payment is taken in the Shopify checkout by our payment provider. The card number itself doesn’t reach us; what we see is the order, the addresses, and that the payment went through.
What we collect if you’re only looking
Some, and we would rather list it than describe it. The shop runs on Shopify, and a handful of things load alongside it on every page. Shopify itself sets the cookies its checkout and cart need. Google Analytics and Google Ads measure which pages and which adverts lead to an order. Klaviyo runs the signup form and remembers what you looked at, so that an email we send you is about something you actually wanted. Trustpilot shows the review stars. Intercom is the chat window in the corner. Klarna is one of the ways you can pay at the checkout, so if you choose it, Klarna handles that payment.
Between them they set cookies on this domain and on their own, and they can see your IP address and the pages you opened. That is ordinary for a shop of this kind; it is not nothing, and this page is not going to call it nothing.
Your unfinished basket is saved in this browser so you can leave and return to it. It can include recipients, addresses, messages and delivery choices. When you continue to checkout, the details needed for your order are passed to Shopify and, for deliveries to multiple addresses, Giftship. You can remove saved gifts or clear your browser’s storage. Once an order is complete, it is cleared from the saved basket.
An unfinished corporate enquiry is saved for this tab’s session. Sending it passes your contact details and brief to Shopify, which runs our shop and emails the enquiry to our team, and we keep a copy on our own server so that no enquiry is missed. Shopify checks the form with hCaptcha, which may ask you to show you are a person first. A successful submission clears the saved draft from this tab.
The typefaces are served by Google Fonts, so your browser fetches them from Google and Google can see that request too.
Measurement and advertising
We measure, and we advertise. Google Analytics tells us which pages help people and which waste their time. Google Ads tells us which advert an order came from, which is the only way we can tell whether an advert was worth running — that one sets a cookie on this domain called _gcl_au, and it is what a shop means when it says “conversion tracking”. We also send a product feed to Google Shopping so hampers can appear there.
What we do not do: we do not sell your information, and we do not hand it to anyone so that they can advertise their own things to you. The advertising here is ours, about our hampers.
If you would rather not be measured, your browser’s own controls work on all of it — blocking third-party cookies, or a tracker blocker, costs you nothing on this site except the chat window. Nothing about buying a hamper depends on being tracked.
Who else handles it
Only the people it takes to get a box to a door. Shopify runs the shop and the checkout; they are a Canadian company, so order information is handled outside the UK, under the terms they publish. Our payment provider takes the card payment. The courier gets the delivery name, address and phone number, and nothing else — they need the phone number because that is how the notifications reach you.
Order records also reach our accountant, and HMRC, in the ordinary way any shop’s do. Klaviyo holds email addresses and what was ordered so that the emails are about the right thing; Google and Trustpilot receive what is described two sections up; Intercom holds the chat, if you start one; Shiptheory passes the parcel to the courier. Beyond that, we hand information over only where the law requires it.
Email from us
If you order, you get the emails an order needs: confirmation, dispatch, tracking. Those aren’t marketing and you can’t unsubscribe from them, because they’re how you find out where your parcel is.
Beyond that: if you give us your address on purpose — in the signup form, or at the checkout when it asks — we may write to you about the larder and about what is worth eating. Klaviyo sends those and holds the list. Every one carries an unsubscribe link that works on the first click, and we would rather you used it than left us writing to somebody who has stopped reading.
How long we keep it
Order records stay, because tax and company law require a business to keep its accounts for a set number of years — we can’t delete an invoice on request, and we’d rather say so than pretend otherwise. Anything we hold beyond that we keep only as long as it is useful to you: an address for a repeat order, a note about the recipient.
Ask us what we hold and we’ll tell you.
Your rights, and the ICO
Under UK GDPR you can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it where we aren’t required to keep it, ask us to restrict or stop a particular use, and ask for it in a form you can take elsewhere. Email hello@artisandelimarket.co.uk and a person will deal with it. There is no form to fill in and no wording you have to get right.
The lawful bases, plainly: we hold order information because we need it to perform the contract you made when you ordered, and we keep accounting records because the law requires it.
If you think we have got it wrong, the regulator is the Information Commissioner’s Office. You can complain to them at ico.org.uk, and you don’t need to ask us first.
